Description
Hattori Natures Edition — In Harmony with Nature
Hattori has always believed that the soul of a great knife begins with the materials. From the steel of the blade to the layers of the handle, every element is chosen with intention, patience, and a deep respect for nature. The Hattori Natures Edition expresses this philosophy — a collection dedicated to the beauty, warmth, and quiet strength that only natural materials can provide.
A Legend Reborn — The S.O.G. Bowie, Hattori Natures Edition
Few knives carry the weight of history that the S.O.G. Bowie does. Originally conceived during the Vietnam War era and carried by elite Special Operations Group operatives, the S.O.G. Bowie became a symbol of reliability, strength, and quiet authority. Last year, on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, this iconic design captured the attention of collectors worldwide — and Master Hattori’s interpretation stands as one of the finest tributes to that legacy.
For the SAN-154, Master Hattori once again revisits this storied design through the lens of the Hattori Natures Edition — this time centering the handle around one of the world’s most celebrated natural woods.
SAN-154 Natures Edition — A Handle of Natural Warmth
Where the SAN-153 spoke in darkness, the SAN-154 speaks in warmth. The custom combination handle is built around carefully selected Cocobolo wood — one of the visually stunning hardwoods in the world — complemented by three materials that allow its natural beauty to take center stage:
Together, these four materials create a handle of natural harmony and quiet luxury — where the living warmth of Cocobolo is framed by the gold of Brass and grounded by the precision of black Micarta. Each element enhances the others, and the result is a composition that feels both organic and refined.
No two handles are identical. Each one is shaped by the unique grain and color of its Cocobolo, and each hilt bears an individually engraved serial number, a mark of its singular identity.
Just as each tree grows slowly and uniquely over decades, each knife in this series carries its own irreplaceable character — grown from nature, refined by a master’s hands.
About Hattori 傘 SAN Limited Edition
Grand Master Hattori became 80 years old. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanju. To celebrate this milestone and his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori created the 傘 SAN Limited Edition — a series of strictly limited-production knives, each one a testament to a lifetime of dedication to the craft.
The SAN-154 features a 6¼-inch hollow-ground, semi-mirror polished AUS-8 Molybdenum Vanadium stainless steel Bowie-style blade, with a large false edge on the back of the clip point. The knife is fitted with a solid stainless steel Double Guard / Crossguard and Butt Cap (with lanyard hole), and comes with a brown leather sheath with a sharpening stone in the pocket. The blade bears the signature 傘 SAN etching, and each piece is presented in a Hattori Presentation Box.
Only 5 pieces exist in the world — each one a meeting of history, nature, and master craftsmanship.
